Can birth control pills affect your cholesterol?
Studies have shown that birth control pills can affect your cholesterol level. However, it all depends upon the type of pill you're using and what concentration of estrogen or progestin it contains.
Birth control pills that contain estrogen can increase high-density lipoprotein cholesterol levels (the "good" cholesterol), decrease the levels of low-density lipoprotein cholesterol(the "bad" cholesterol), and cause an increase in your total cholesterol and triglyceride levels. The progestin in birth control pills has the opposite effect.
Birth control pills that have a higher amount of estrogen can have a slightly better effect on your blood lipid levels. Although, the changes aren't significant and won't affect your health.

What are CycleBeads?
CycleBeads are a highly effective, inexpensive approach to natural family planning. They make it easy for a woman to track her menstrual cycle and clearly identify the days she could become pregnant and the days when pregnancy is most unlikely. Additionally, CycleBeads have no side effects due to the lack of hormones or chemicals involved.
CycleBeads are based on the Standard Days Method, which works best for women who have regular menstrual cycles (between 26 and 32 days long). In this system, days 1-7 of a woman's menstrual cycle are considered infertile. Days 8-19 are considered fertile. Infertility is considered to resume beginning on day 20. When used to avoid pregnancy, the Standard Days Method has a perfect-use failure rate of 5% per year.
How to use CycleBeads.
CycleBeads consist of a series of color-coded beads that represent a woman's fertile and low fertility days. The color of the bead indicates whether she is likely to be fertile or not.
On the first day of her period the woman puts the rubber ring on the red bead. Each day the ring is moved ahead by one bead, always in the direction of the arrow. When the ring is on the red bead or a dark bead, there is a very low chance of pregnancy. When the ring is on a white bead - Days 8 through 19 - there is a high chance of getting pregnant if she has unprotected intercourse.

How to check your breasts for lumps.
If a breast self-examination is performed accurately and regularly it may help in early detection of some forms of breast cancers. However a BSE should not substitute for proven effective screening methods such as mammography and MRI.
How to perform a breast self-examination
- Stand in front of a mirror with chest exposed.
- Place hands on hips.
- Look for signs of dimpling, swelling, soreness, or redness in all parts of your breasts in the mirror.
- Repeat with arms raised above your head.
- While still standing, palpate your breasts with your fingers, feeling for lumps.
- Try to use a larger area of your fingers rather than prodding. Feel both for the area just beneath the skin and for the tissue deeper within.
- Go over the entire breast while examining. One method is to divide the breast into quadrants and palpate each quadrant carefully. Also examine the "axillary tail" of each breast that extends toward the axilla (armpit).
- Repeat palpation while lying down.
- Check the nipples and the area just beneath them. Gently squeeze each nipple to check for any discharge.
Premenopausal women should perform BSE around the same time as their period to minimize changes to the breasts due to the menstrual cycle. The recommended time is just after the end of the last period when the breasts are least likely to be swollen and tender. Menopausal women should perform BSE once a month.
Immediately report any abnormalities to your healthcare professional. Breast self-examination should be combined with an annual exam performed by your healthcare professional for better chances of detection. Being that it's easy to miss a lump, learning BSE from an expert will make it easier to detect. Make an appointment with your healthcare professional to learn the correct way to self-examine your breasts.

Types of Permanent Birth Control.
In present times many couples want a permanent method of birth control. Some couples choose permanent birth control because they know they do not want children. While other couples want a permanent method because they have completed their family. Either way you have the right to choose what method and how to plan your future life with your partner. Two possible procedures are a tubal ligation for women or a vasectomy for men.
Tubal Ligation
This is a simple operation that closes the tubes between the ovaries and the uterus. The sperm cells of a man cannot reach the eggs in a woman's body after closing the tubes. This is 100% successful method to prevent the pregnancy. This operation can take 7 to 8 hours. Women can enjoy their regular life after bed rest for a few days.
Positive points- one-time method
- very effective
- no need to use hormonal birth control
- sexual spontaneity
- reversal is expensive, it may be difficult and sometimes impossible
- no protection against sexual transmitted infections
- the failure of operation can increase risk of ectopic pregnancy
Vasectomy
Vasectomy is a minor operation usually performed in a doctor's office or medical clinic. The man is awake during the surgery, which usually takes no more than 30 minutes. The doctor injects a local anesthetic into the skin of the scrotum to numb it. Then the doctor makes one or two small cuts in the skin of the scrotum through which the tubes are gently lifted out. The tubes are then severed and the ends are sealed. Men can recover from this situation quickly but in a few cases there can be problems of swelling and pain.
Positive points- one-time procedure
- very effective
- quick recovery
- sexual spontaneity
- no significant long term side effects
- simplest procedure for permanent birth control
- male partner must be willing
- reversal is expensive, it may be difficult and sometimes impossible
- no protection against sexually transmitted infections
- may be psychologically difficult for some men
