Femcon Fe side effects

Filed under: Uncategorized — Ashlynn @ 8:40 am

Femcon Fe is the only chewable birth control pill on the market today. It is an estrogen and progestin combination pill used to prevent pregnancy. You can swallow it like a conventional pill, or just put the pill in your mouth and chew. After chewing be sure to wash it down with an 8-ounce glass of your favorite drink.

Side effects of Femcon Fe include:

  • breast tenderness
  • nausea
  • vomiting
  • spotting or bleeding between periods
  • weight gain or loss

These side effects usually go away within the first 3 months. If side effects persist or worsen speak with your doctor as soon as possible.

Less common but serious side effects include:

  • blood clots, blockage of blood vessels
  • gallbladder disease
  • liver tumors (extremely rare)
  • high blood pressure, which returns to normal after you stop taking the Pill
  • stroke

  1. My questions are completely unrelated to this blog post, but I look forward to having them answered here. Say you are on the patch and suspect that by some chance you were to get pregnant, but also continue having your period, which would probably be really really rare, but say it happens. What are the chances of this actually happening? -and- How are you to know whether or not to get a pregnancy test? -and- Will continuing to wear the patch, as you don’t know for sure, in any way harm the baby if you are pregnant? I hope this isn’t too complicated to answer, but I would really like to know.

  2. Some women do have light bleeding even when they are pregnant – it’s not good but they usually carry to term without a problem. I would take a pregnancy test, it won’t hurt to know right? That way your mind is at rest. You can purchase and take the test on your own or have it done at your doctor’s office. As for continuing with the Patch I don’t think it would harm your baby but consult with your doctor as soon as possible for a clearer answer.

  4. I have to take two of these pills a day because my cycle won’t go off, but I feel like I’m going to fall out and sometimes that I have a clot in my calf. It’s scaring me especially when I got an email the other day about a girl taking birth control and had a stroke and died. Once I heard that I stop taking them but then I came back on flowing hard on top of cramping. They want to give me a hysterectomy, but I’m only 28 years of age. I’m just scared because I don’t want any side effects.

  5. I started taking Femcon Fe 2 months ago and seemed to be tolerating well. However, in August, I started having some numbness/tingling in my hands and feet, difficulty walking, spastic “jerky” movements, etc. The docs have ran multiple tests (MRIs, vascular studies, lab work) and are “baffled” as to a diagnosis. The only thing that has changed in my normal routine is this pill. I have no idea if this is the cause, but I stopped taking the pill on Tuesday and symptoms are already improving. Has anyone else experienced anything like this?
